Sept. 2, 2011 note: While Middlebury fortunately escaped direct damage from Hurricane Irene, some roads leading into town from the south and the east were damaged by flooding. For the latest road closure information, link to the Vermont Flooding website.
If you are arriving from the north (e.g., from Burlington): Take Route 7 going south into Middlebury. At the first stop light in Middlebury, continue south. After a few blocks, you will see the village green on your right. Continue straight as you enter into a traffic circle; do not follow the signs when Route 7 bears to the left. You will enter into South Pleasant Street. The Inn on the Green is the large blue house with black shutters on the left, just past the large white Painter House on the left, and across from the red brick Town Hall Theater. The entrance to parking is just past the inn, just before the stone Baptist church.
If you are arriving from the south via Route 30 (e.g., from Albany): Take Route 30 north into Middlebury. You will pass Middlebury College's Field House and Center for the Arts, and then you will drive through Middlebury's Main Street. Just past the bridge over Otter Creek, turn right into Merchant's Row (by the Ski Haus). Continue for one block and you will soon see the Inn on the Green in front of you and slightly right (large blue house with black shutters). Turn right into South Pleasant Street (by the red brick Town Hall Theater). Entrance to parking is in front of the inn, just before the stone Baptist church.
If you are arriving from the south via Route 7 (e.g., from Rutland or southern Vermont): Take Route 7 north into Middlebury. When you reach the Cross Street traffic light (just after Kinney Drug), turn left into Cross Street and then right into South Pleasant Street. Continue on South Pleasant Street until you see the Baptist Church on the right and beyond it, the large blue house with black shutters. The entrance to parking is in front of the inn, just after the Baptist church.
