Our Story. Middlebury Vermont’s Historic Bed & Breakfast

Our roots trace richly to Middlebury and the College that was founded in 1800. ln 1803, Loyal Case, a brilliant young lawyer and abolitionist, purchased from town father, Gamaliel Painter, a parcel on South Pleasant Street. He proceeded to build a classic Federal-style home. ln the years that followed, it grew, adding to its splendid presence, overlooking the Town’s green.

Who We Are

December of 2018, I became the proud owner of this beautiful, 12 room inn. My family and I are natives of Vermont, with a strong appreciation and respect for this wonderful town and the College.

We have a strong Social Mission towards helping others. As such, we donate a portion of our revenue, each month, to charitable endeavors. As part of this, we directly support the preparation of meals and housing for those in need at the Charter House Coalition in Middlebury.

We are environmentally aware and committed. That means that in everything that we do in the operating of the inn, it is top of mind. Specifically, all plastic containers have been replaced. We have sharply reduced the amount of paper consumption, as well as localized the sourcing of products. ln addition, we work closely with the Vermont Green Business Program (VT GBP) in adopting the very best practices, in protecting the environment.

So join us and become part of the Middlebury Family. Whether you be a Middlebury College parent or relative, alum, or visitor to our special town, come and relax at our cozy place. We are a short walk to Middlebury’s many restaurants and the Town’s history. We are here to welcome you.
